Generosity Continues to Keep Families Warm

The Give A Kid A Coat program has collected 9,425 coats during the first two weeks of the 2010 campaign, which is roughly 4% lower than week two of the 2009 campaign. While donations are holding steady, demand continues to be high.

Major Paul Eagan with the Greensboro Salvation Army says: “We continue to have a great need, especially for smaller size children’s coats.”

“It never ceases to amaze me how the people of the Piedmont Triad are so giving of themselves,” said Jack Murphy of 1075KZL’s Murphy in the Morning Show. “We have yet to see the coldest air of the season, and we still have work to do, but I am confident that no child or adult will be cold this winter.”

To make a donation, simply drop off your outgrown coats or coats no longer being worn to any A Cleaner World dry cleaners in North Carolina or Virginia. A Cleaner World will clean and repair the coats and give them to The Salvation Army to distribute. To receive coats, parents only need to verify the number of children in their family and provide basic name and address information. Distribution has already begun, and distribution times and locations vary by city, so contact your local Salvation Army for specific information.

Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Fox 8/WGHP, 1075KZL, and The Salvation Army. Monetary donations may be made at any High Point Bank branch. This year’s campaign ends on Saturday, December 4th. For additional information, contact Dianne Black at 336-841-4188.
