Give A Kid A Coat Off to a Solid Start

Give A Kid A Coat, a campaign that solicits coat donations from area residents in order to provide coats to needy children and adults during the winter, has collected 5,982 coats during the first week of the 2010 campaign. This figure is roughly 7% less than the number of coats collected during the first week of last year’s campaign but on track to surpass last year’s 22,858 coats collected throughout the campaign.

Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World, expressed his confidence in the first week results of this year’s campaign. “Triad residents have always been generous,” said Edwards. “With unemployment remaining high and families struggling again this year, the need is even greater. I believe the Triad will meet the challenge to top the total coats collected last year.” To help keep a child warm this winter, simply check your closet for an outgrown coat or a coat no longer being worn, and drop it off at any A Cleaner World location (find your nearest Greensboro dry cleaners, Winston-Salem dry cleaners, or dry cleaners in High Point) The coats will be cleaned and repaired free of charge and sent to The Salvation Army for distribution.

Triad Salvation Army locations are gearing up to begin distribution. Greensboro will distribute coats on Wednesdays through Fridays beginning November 10 through December 3 at 2700 E. Market St. from 11:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Additional December distribution will be announced by the Greensboro Salvation Army as soon as those times are confirmed. High Point will distribute coats on Tuesdays and Thursdays beginning November 2nd through December 7th at their Family Life Center at 301 West Green Drive from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Winston-Salem will distribute coats on Thursdays and Fridays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. beginning November 11th through December 10th at 680 Peters Creek Parkway.
