GIVE A KID A COAT 2011 CAMPAIGN ENTERS FINAL WEEK WITH AUCTION OF GOO GOO DOLLS AUTOGRAPHED JACKET
This year’s Give A Kid A Coat campaign will conclude on Saturday, November 26, 2011. Week four finished behind last year with a total count to date of 15,209 coats. Although steady, the count is still about 2,300 coats shy of last year’s count at the end of week four. “We need to make a big push this last week to bring in as many coats as possible,” says Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World. “There are still many children in the Piedmont needing a warm coat this winter.”
This past week, WKZL held an online auction for a jacket signed by the Goo Goo Dolls who recently performed in Greensboro at the Carolina Theatre. The money raised by this auction will be used to purchase additional coats in much needed sizes. “As we enjoy the last of the warm weather, I know that old man winter is just waiting around the corner!” says WKZL’s Jack Murphy. “Please let’s make sure no child in the Triad goes to school without a coat this winter. Get your gently used coats to A Cleaner World today!”
Residents that wish to participate in this year’s campaign can simply drop off their outgrown coats or coats they no longer wear at the nearest A Cleaner World (see locations for A Cleaner World’s Greensboro dry cleaners, High Point dry cleaners, and Winston Salem dry cleaners). Coats will then be cleaned, repaired, and delivered to The Salvation Army for distribution. Families in need of coats should check with their nearest Salvation Army for distribution information as distribution times and locations vary by city.
In addition, folks who want to help but who may not have a coat to donate, may make a monetary donation at any High Point Bank location for Give A Kid A Coat. All donations will be given to The Salvation Army to purchase additional coats.
Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, The Salvation Army, Fox8/WGHP, and 1075KZL. For additional information, please call Dianne Black at 336-841-4188.
