29th ANNUAL GIVE A KID A COAT CAMPAIGN FINISHES JUST AHEAD OF FIRST WEEK 2014
Give A Kid A Coat, a campaign that solicits coat donations from area residents in order to provide coats to needy children and adults during the winter, has collected 3,536 coats during the first week of the 2015 campaign. This amount is 376 more than the first week last year, so the campaign is on track to collect around 18,000 coats at this pace. As in past years, The Salvation Army in the Triad needs around 25,000 coats to meet the needs of children in our area.
Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World, expressed his confidence in the first week’s campaign results. “For the past 28 years our community has always responded to the needs of area children by providing sufficient coats through this campaign,” says Edwards. To help, simply check your closet for a coat no longer being worn and drop it off at any A Cleaner World location. The gently used coats will be cleaned and repaired free of charge and sent to The Salvation Army for distribution.
Triad Salvation Army locations are gearing up to begin distribution. The bulk of Greensboro’s coat distributions this year will be managed through elementary school counselors. Counselors will assess the needs of their school’s children and pick up coats on November 17th to give out at their schools. Greensboro will distribute any remaining coats from November 18th through the 20th at W. Gate City Blvd., from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. High Point will distribute coats from November 16th through the 20th at 318 West Green Drive from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Winston-Salem will distribute coats from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on November 20th and 21st at 680 Peters Creek Parkway. Yadkin County will distribute November 13th from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the old Unifi Warehouse located at 108 Beroth Dr. (beside McDonald’s) in Yadkinville. Burlington will distribute from November 16th through the 20th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at 812 N. Anthony St. in Burlington.
