GIVE A KID A COAT OFF TO A STRONG START
Give A Kid A Coat, a campaign that solicits coat donations from area residents in order to provide coats to needy children and adults during the winter, has collected 5,025 coats during the first week of the 2008 campaign. This figure is roughly 13% higher than the number of coats collected during the first week of last year’s campaign.
“During these challenging economic times, coats in the Triad are needed more than ever,” said Jack Murphy of 1075KZL’s Murphy in the Morning Show. “This year I along with 1075KZL are confident that we can work together to take in a record breaking amount of coats to be distributed to the less fortunate throughout the Triad.” To help keep a child warm this winter, simply check your closet for an outgrown coat or a coat no longer being worn, and drop it off at any A Cleaner World location. The coats will be cleaned and repaired free of charge and sent to The Salvation Army for distribution.
Distribution has already begun at the High Point Salvation Army offices. They began distributing coats this morning and will do so daily from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. through November 7th. After that, they will distribute coats every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. through December 2nd and every Thursday from noon to 6:00 p.m. through November 20th. The address for High Point’s distribution location is 301 W. Green Drive. The Winston-Salem Salvation Army will begin distributing coats on Friday, November 7th and will distribute every Friday from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. and every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. through December 8th, excluding the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The address for Winston-Salem’s distribution location is 4239 Patterson Avenue. The Greensboro Salvation Army will begin distributing coats on Monday, November 10th. Their distribution site is located at 110 East Meadowview Road, Building D. For additional distribution information, contact your local Salvation Army office.
