GIVE A KID A COAT WRAPS UP 2007 CAMPAIGN

The Give A Kid A Coat program has collected 8,420 coats during the first two weeks of the 2008 campaign, which is roughly the same number collected through week two of the 2007 campaign.  This is a terrific start, but folks in need are still out there.  Robin Pardella with the Winston-Salem Salvation Army said they had to close their doors early on Saturday because they ran out of coats.
“In today’s economy the need is greater than ever for The Salvation Army,” said Fox 8 Chief Meteorologist Van Denton.  “They provide food and other supplies for many in the community and this includes coats.  This campaign is the primary provider of coats and now is the time to go through your closet and pull out the coats you no longer need.”
To make a donation, simply drop off your outgrown coats or coats no
longer being worn to any A Cleaner World location.  A Cleaner World will clean and repair the coats and give them to The Salvation Army to distribute.  To receive coats, parents only need to verify the number of children in their family and provide basic name and address information.  Distribution has already begun, and distribution times and locations vary by city, so contact your local Salvation Army for specific information.
Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Fox 8/WGHP, 1075KZL, and The Salvation Army.  This year’s campaign ends on Saturday, November 29th.  For additional information, contact Barbara Mitchell at 336-841-4188.
