With just one week left in this year’s campaign, Give A Kid A Coat has collected 18,532 coats to date, which is up just slightly over last year’s figures. Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World, expressed his delight with the over 5,600 coats that were donated during the fourth week of the campaign. “That’s a huge help,” said Edwards, “but it’s not about the number. We just want to be able to provide a coat to every person that needs one. Unfortunately, The Salvation Army continues to run out of coats, especially smaller kid’s sizes. Please take a few moments to check your closets to see if you can help a family in need.”
Coat donations can be made at any A Cleaner World location where they will be cleaned, repaired, and sent to Salvation Army distribution points. Families in need of coats should check with their nearest Salvation Army for distribution information as times and locations vary by city.
On Friday, High Point Bank presented Captain Perez of the High Point Salvation Army with a $1,000 check to be used toward purchasing new coats in needed sizes. In addition, folks who want to help but who may not have a coat to donate, may make a monetary donation at any High Point Bank for Give A Kid A Coat. All donations will be given to The Salvation Army to purchase coats.
The 2008 Give A Kid A Coat campaign concludes Saturday, November 29, 2008. Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, The Salvation Army, Fox8/WGHP, and 1075KZL. For additional information, please call Barbara Mitchell at 336-841-4188.
