With just one week left in this year’s campaign, Give A Kid A Coat has collected 17,879 coats to date, which is down just slightly over last year’s figures. Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World, expressed his delight over the 4,800 coats that were donated during the fourth week of the campaign. “We’re not concerned about hitting a certain number,” said Edwards. “Our goal is simply to provide a coat to every person that needs a coat. Unfortunately, the folks at The Salvation Army were having a difficult time satisfying the need, especially for smaller kid’s sizes. Last week’s donations will definitely help.” Edwards encourages residents to take advantage of this last week to Give A Kid A Coat so that this year’s campaign will be successful in meeting the Triad’s need for coats.
Coat donations can be made at any A Cleaner World location where they will be cleaned, repaired, and delivered to Salvation Army distribution points. Families in need of coats should check with their nearest Salvation Army for distribution information as times
and locations vary by city.
Throughout the 2007 campaign, 1075KZL has highlighted drop off points throughout the Triad to provide some fun giveaways during the course of the program. This week’s featured drop off point is scheduled for Thursday, November 29th from noon to 1 p.m. at the A Cleaner World located at 2781 South Church Street in Burlington. Folks from 1075KZL will be there collecting coats. “We’ve been a part of Give A Kid A Coat for years now, and keeping families warm through this project never gets old or dated,” said Jack Murphy of 1075KZL’s Murphy in the Morning Show. “We at 1075KZL challenge all those families fortunate enough to have coats that are outgrown or no longer needed, to get them to your nearest A Cleaner World location.”
The 2007 campaign ends Saturday, December 1st. Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, The Salvation Army, Fox 8, and 1075KZL. For additional information, please call Chris Edwards at 336-841-4188.
