2018 GIVE A KID A COAT 31st CAMPAIGN UNDERWAY
The 2018 Give A Kid A Coat campaign kicked off this morning by collecting 480 coats during a live event with WGHP/Fox8 and 1075KZL/ROCK92 at the A Cleaner World located at 2527 Eastchester Drive in High Point. The event was filled with visits by radio and television personalities, as well as a performance by The Salvation Army Band. Biscuitville, Hardees, and Carter Brothers provided biscuits and Krispy Kreme sent doughnuts to enjoy along with coffee and hot chocolate provided by The Salvation Army. Tickets to the Monster Truck Jam and several Wake Forest basketball games were given away along with WGHP/Fox8 ice scrapers and Carolina Panthers gear from 1075WKZL/ROCK92. AAA Storage, who are media sponsors for the campaign, came by to join in the festivities.
The Piedmont area Give A Kid A Coat campaign collected, cleaned, and distributed, through The Salvation Army, 22,042 coats in 2017 and has collected, cleaned, and distributed 845,619 coats since the campaign’s inception in 1987. The 2018 campaign began today and will end on Saturday, February 10, 2018.
Residents wishing to participate in this year’s campaign can bring their outgrown coats or coats no longer being worn to any A Cleaner World location. Coats will be cleaned, repaired, and given to The Salvation Army for distribution to needy children and adults. Distribution will begin in mid-January, and more details will be provided at that time.
This year, the campaign has again opened up to community and civic groups as well as churches that would like to collect coats and drop them off at any A Cleaner World location to be cleaned and distributed.
Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, WGHP/Fox8, 1075ZKL, Rock92, and The Salvation Army. For additional information, please call Dianne Berberich at 336-841-4188.
