2019 Give A Kid A Coat Week Two Recap
The Give A Kid A Coat program has collected 7,079 coats during the first two weeks of the 2019 campaign, which is 35% lower than week two of last year’s campaign. While donations are steady, demand continues to be high. Rain on kickoff day reduced the number of donors dropping off coats.
Van Denton with Fox8 says: “Do you have an overcrowded coat closet at home? I bet there are coats in there that you haven't thought about wearing in years. Why not pull those out and donate them this year? Let’s make a big push for the remaining weeks of the campaign to be sure every child that needs a coat has a coat to wear.”
To make a donation, simply drop off your outgrown coats or coats no longer being worn to any A Cleaner World in North Carolina or Virginia. A Cleaner World will clean and repair the coats and give them to The Salvation Army to distribute. Distribution information is available through your local Salvation Army or the A Cleaner World website.
In addition to coats, The Salvation Army can use monetary donations to fill in the gaps on coat sizes that aren’t received through collections. If you don’t have a coat to donate, please consider making a monetary gift to this campaign to ensure that every child in the Triad is warm this winter.
Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Fox 8/WGHP, 1075KZL, Rock92, and The Salvation Army. This year’s campaign ends on Saturday, February 9th.
