GIVE A KID A COAT ANNOUNCES 30th CAMPAIGN DATES
The Give A Kid A Coat campaign, a program that solicits coat donations from area residents to give to those in need, has announced the official dates for its 30th campaign as January 6 through February 11, 2017. In the past the campaign has occurred in the fall, but with warmer weather donors haven’t been thinking about donating coats that early and as a result, the campaign has run out of coats the last three years. In addition, these new dates will allow our partners, The Salvation Army and Fox 8, the opportunity to focus on and wrap up their holiday programs in November and December, and then concentrate all their attention on coats beginning in January.
“We’re excited about this change,” said Chris Edwards, President of A Cleaner World. “Parents that are blessed with the ability to give their children new coats for Christmas will need to make room in their closets, and I can’t think of a better way to continue the theme of giving than by donating an outgrown coat to a child in need.”
In addition to the date change, A Cleaner World is also encouraging groups to collect coats for the program in weeks leading up to Christmas. A Cleaner World will begin accepting coats to be cleaned and repaired for Give A Kid A Coat starting Tuesday, December 27, 2016. “We believe this addition will bring in lots of coats to help jump start the campaign,” explained Mr. Edwards. “I’d also like to share one additional piece of information. We realized that with the later dates, there might be some families that need coats before distribution begins, so families in desperate need of coats before Give A Kid A Coat begins distribution will be served at The Salvation Army Family Stores by vouchers for a free coat from their stores.”
This year’s kick off will be held at the A Cleaner World Dry Cleaners located at 2527 Eastchester Drive in High Point on Friday, January 6th from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. More details about the kick off and the 30th campaign will be provided closer to the campaign dates.
This year we are pleased to welcome two new media sponsors. Overhead Door Company of Greensboro and Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services will help spread the word about this worthwhile program.
Give A Kid A Coat is sponsored by A Cleaner World, FOX8, 1075KZL, WKRR Rock 92, and The Salvation Army. For additional information, please contact Chris Edwards at 336-841-4188.
